Background


The Uttarakhand Urban Sector Development Agency (UUSDA) is the Impementation Agency(IA) for all subproject components of the Externally Aided Projects and State funded projects under Urban Development Department (UDD), Government of Uttarakhand (GoU), and it is responsible for the overall management in the state. In their policy of balanced regional socio-economic development and poverty reduction through improvements in urban governance, management and infrastructure and service provision throughout the urban sector in Uttarakhand.

The UDD has set up a state-level Urban Development Agency under the leadership of a Senior IAS officer of GoU as Program Director to execute the project and to monitor, guide, and supervise the implementation of the Projects, and provide overall policy direction.

The PMU has been established as a society registered under the Societies Registration Act of India in the name of Uttarakhand Urban Sector Development Agency (UUSDA) as an independent entity but under the overall regulatory control of the UDD. The PMU will coordinate and monitor implementation of the Projects. It is vested with all administrative and financial powers needed to execute and guide implementation of the program entrusted to it. The PMU will also ensure compliance with the EAPs loan covenants.
